Santa Rosa Mountains - With the Santa Rosa Mountains and Coyote Canyon, Anza-Borrego North

The major faults in Anza-Borrego north are the Coyote Fault and the Clark Fault. They are part of the San Jacinto Fault Zone which is a branch of the San Andreas Fault. Of geological interest are the Truckhaven Rocks

It is the longest and (from the north side as pictured above) tallest of a number of fault scarps to the southeast along the Clark Earthquake Fault

The chief attraction of Wonderstone Wash is wonderstone, a hydrothermally altered rock with bands of minerals such as iron and manganese in varying colors. The colors include eye-catching reds, oranges, purples, and blue-gray.
